IV Sedation

IV sedation is ideal for patients with severe dental anxiety or those who need to undergo a lengthy, or more complex procedure. It can also be used to help someone receive several treatments in a single sitting in order to save time and optimize healing. This is usually the ideal anesthetic option for wisdom teeth extractions. Because Dr. Keyser is licensed to provide deep sedation/general anesthesia, patients are able to “sleep” throughout the process, which has the dual benefit of allowing our team to work efficiently while making the experience more comfortable for the patient.
Nitrous Oxide Sedation

Better known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is great for “taking the edge off.” A few breaths through a small nasal mask creates a feeling of warmth and serenity, and some patients say it even seems like they’re floating! We often recommend it for mildly nervous patients or children as it’s extremely safe, plus the effects wear off almost instantly once the mask is removed.
Oral Conscious Sedation

For our pediatric patients, we will start with a liquid sedative to drink. We do this while they’re being monitored to provide the upmost level of safety. This will relax your child so they are able to safely and comfortably get through their surgical procedure. This is often combined with nitrous oxide for an optimal experience.
For adults obtaining oral conscious sedation, you’ll be prescribed a pill to take before your procedure, so by the time you sit in the chair, you’ll already be fully relaxed from head to toe. Because of its strength, a patient needs to organize transport to and from our office. While you’ll likely remain awake throughout the procedure, time will seem to fly by, and many only have fuzzy memories afterward.
