Bone Grafting

Before a patient receives dental implants, a bone graft might be necessary to ensure the jaw is strong and stable enough to support the new teeth. This involves taking donated tissue (either from somewhere else on a patient’s body, a tissue bank, or synthetic material) and placing it on the area of the jaw where the implants will be located to encourage the growth of new, healthy bone. This enables many patients who normally wouldn’t be good candidates for dental implants to finally get them.

  • Sinus Lift: Raises the sinus floor and adds bone to the upper jaw, creating enough support for secure implant placement.
  • Socket Preservation: Protects bone volume after tooth extraction, maintaining the ideal foundation for future implants.
  • Alveolar Ridge Augmentation: Rebuilds lost jawbone structure, restoring strength and shape for stable, long-lasting implant results.

General Tooth Extractions

We understand that dental extractions cause many patients to feel nervous. We find that by providing answers to any and all questions and ensuring patients know what to expect, we can provide a more comfortable, less intimidating experience. Typically, an extraction will be recommended if a tooth…

  • Is damaged or decayed to the point that it cannot be restored
  • Is loose because gum disease has weakened the root
  • Would prevent the teeth from aligning properly in response to orthodontics
  • Is preventing an incoming adult tooth from erupting properly
  • Would stop a denture from fitting securely

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF)

Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is created from a small sample of your own blood, concentrating powerful healing cells and growth factors. When applied following oral surgery, PRF supports faster healing, reduces discomfort, and enhances treatment outcomes. This natural, biocompatible approach promotes tissue regeneration and recovery, helping your body heal more efficiently while ensuring safe, effective results.

Soft Tissue Grafts

Soft tissue grafts can restore the gum line after recession due to gum disease. This can restore protection to exposed tooth roots as well as create a balanced frame for the smile to improve someone’s appearance. A simple procedure completed in a single appointment, the mouth is numbed, and then a small band of tissue is taken from the roof of the mouth. This is placed where the gums have receded and sutured, where it will eventually meld to create a seamless gum line. The soft tissue graft can also be obtained from an off the shelf product which removes the need to obtain tissue from the roof of the mouth.

Peri-Implantitis Treatment

Peri-implantitis is a unique form of gum disease that forms around the base of dental implants. It’s a bacterial infection that can weaken the supporting gum and bone and compromise the stability of the implant tooth. Dr. Keyser can prevent complete implant failure by disinfecting the area, arresting the disease process. In some cases, a bone graft might be necessary to further strengthen the area. When greater than 50% of the bone around an implant has been lost, the implant may require removal.

Oral Cancer Screenings & Biopsies (Oral Pathology)

General dentists will perform an oral cancer screening as part of a patient’s routine checkup, and if they notice any early symptoms of the condition (discolored tissue, new growths, sores that don’t heal after two to four weeks), a biopsy is the best way to figure out what is going on. Dr. Keyser will numb the area before taking a small tissue sampling for testing. This approach ensures that if it is cancerous, a patient is able to receive treatment before it becomes advanced. We also encourage patients to reach out to us or their dentist if they notice any out-of-the-ordinary oral symptoms between appointments—there’s no need to wait!

Facial Trauma Repair

Facial trauma, whether it’s due to a motor vehicle accident, a slip and fall, or an injury during sports, can hamper a patient’s ability to live a comfortable and confident life. We can make sure that one bad day doesn’t have to influence the rest of someone’s future. With facial trauma repair, we can address aesthetic and functional concerns at the same time, so a patient can eat properly and look in the mirror or sit down for a meal without having to think of a negative experience.

Apicoectomy

An apicoectomy is a precise microsurgical procedure to remove infected tissue at a tooth’s root tip. By sealing the root end, it preserves the natural tooth, relieves discomfort, and prevents further infection, helping a patient maintain a healthy, functional smile while avoiding the need for extraction.

Salivary Gland Disorders

Dr. Keyser can expertly treat salivary gland disorders, restoring comfort and function. For sialoliths (salivary stones), minimally invasive removal clears blockages that cause swelling, pain, or dry mouth. In cases of sialadenitis, a bacterial or viral infection of the gland, surgical drainage or duct repair may be performed to restore normal flow. Advanced techniques allow these procedures to be completed with precision, often preserving the gland itself. By addressing both the cause and its effects, we can help patients regain healthy salivary function, prevent future complications, and improve overall oral health.

Children’s Oral Surgery (Tongue-Tie/Frenectomy Surgery)

Thousands of children are born with lip and tongue ties that prevent them from nursing, speaking, or even breathing comfortably. Dr. Keyser can restore a child’s oral function (and parents’ peace of mind) by loosening or removing the tissue that is restricting a child’s ability to control their lips and tongue, which cannot only help them in the short term, but also prevent the development of crooked/gapped teeth down the road.
